Job Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and mental health histories.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications and monitor treatment response.
• Assess patients for changes in mental status, safety concerns, and risk of suicide or harm to others.
• Provide ongoing follow-up and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and other members of the treatment team.
• Participate in treatment planning and patient care conferences.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.
• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Assist with discharge planning and coordination of appropriate outpatient follow-up.
• Respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and changes in patient condition.
Qualifications
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health.
• Current PMHNP certification and appropriate state licensure.
• Prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, or acute psychiatric care preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Comfortable working with patients experiencing acute and complex psychiatric conditions.
