An established outpatient specialty practice in Surprise, Arizona is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a strong background in orthopedics, podiatry, sports medicine, foot and ankle, or procedural musculoskeletal care.

This opportunity is ideal for an advanced practice provider who enjoys hands-on patient care, office-based procedures, and managing musculoskeletal conditions in a busy, physician-supported environment.

Overview & Highlights:

  • Location: Surprise, Arizona
  • Schedule: Full-time, weekdays
  • Compensation: $115,000–$140,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Bonus: Additional productivity-based compensation
  • Position Type: Full-time employee, direct-hire, outpatient specialty practice
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer match; PTO and paid holidays; malpractice coverage; CME allowance; and professional licensure support
  • Clinical Focus: Podiatry, foot-and-ankle medicine, orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, and office-based procedures
  • Lifestyle: No nights, weekends, call, hospital rounding, or inpatient responsibilities

Location & Logistics:

  • Work Environment: Established, high-volume outpatient specialty clinic in the northwest Phoenix metro area
  • Coverage Model or Hours: Predictable weekday outpatient schedule
  • Clinical Support: Work alongside an on-site podiatrist with dedicated clinical support staff and access to collaborating specialists
  • Travel: None – this is a single-site role
  • On-Call: None – no nights, weekends, call coverage, hospital rounding, or inpatient responsibilities

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

This is a hands-on outpatient opportunity for a PA or NP who enjoys treating musculoskeletal conditions, performing procedures, and developing meaningful clinical autonomy.

Most of your week will focus on podiatry and foot-and-ankle care, evaluating patients with plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, arthritis, hindfoot and forefoot pain, and other common musculoskeletal concerns. Your daily responsibilities will include patient evaluations, treatment planning, injections, orthotic management, routine foot care, wound assessments, and postoperative follow-up.

You will work closely with an experienced on-site podiatrist and dedicated clinical staff. As you learn the practice's workflows and treatment protocols, you will gradually develop your own patient schedule, manage appropriate cases independently, and collaborate with the podiatrist when surgical evaluation or more complex management is needed.

A smaller portion of your role will involve supporting a specialized, physician-directed outpatient treatment program for benign musculoskeletal conditions. This includes clinical assessments, treatment follow-ups, patient education, and coordination with the supervising specialist. No prior experience in this treatment area is required; structured training will be provided.

The result is a varied clinical role combining procedural medicine, specialty collaboration, continuity of care, and a predictable outpatient schedule.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Hands-on procedural medicine: Regular opportunities to perform injections, nail procedures, wound care, splinting, and other office-based treatments.
  • A focused musculoskeletal patient population: Spend your time treating orthopedic, podiatric, and foot-and-ankle conditions rather than managing a broad primary-care panel.
  • Growing clinical autonomy: Develop your own patient schedule while maintaining direct access to an experienced podiatrist and clinical support team.
  • Specialty exposure and professional development: Expand your experience through collaboration with physicians and training in additional nonsurgical treatment approaches.
  • Established patient demand: Join an active outpatient practice with an existing patient population and consistent clinical volume.
  • Predictable work-life balance: No nights, weekends, call, inpatient coverage, or hospital rounding.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a clinically confident, procedure-oriented PA or NP who can balance efficiency, sound judgment, and high-quality patient care.

  • At least 2 years of PA or NP experience in orthopedics, podiatry, foot and ankle, sports medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, orthopedic-focused urgent care, or wound care.
  • Meaningful hands-on experience with joint and/or soft-tissue injections.
  • Strong musculoskeletal assessment skills, including comfort reviewing plain-film imaging.
  • Confidence performing office-based procedures and managing routine specialty follow-up visits.
  • Ability to maintain an efficient clinical workflow in a busy outpatient setting.
  • Good judgment regarding independent management, physician collaboration, and appropriate escalation of care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage outpatient podiatric, orthopedic, and foot-and-ankle conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for common musculoskeletal disorders, including plantar fasciitis, tendinopathies, arthritis, and forefoot pain.
  • Perform appropriate office-based procedures, including corticosteroid, joint, and soft-tissue injections.
  • Provide nail care and procedures, callus and corn paring, wound assessments, debridement, splinting, and other procedures within training and scope.
  • Manage follow-up visits for injections, orthotic fittings, diabetic foot examinations, routine and at-risk foot care, and postoperative recovery.
  • Order, review, and interpret appropriate imaging and laboratory studies.
  • Evaluate treatment response and adjust care plans based on clinical findings and established protocols.
  • Identify patients requiring surgical consultation, additional diagnostic evaluation, or physician-directed management.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and communicate effectively with the care team.
  • Provide appropriate outpatient coverage and manage an increasingly independent patient schedule.
  • Participate in a specialized outpatient treatment program through patient assessments, follow-up visits, education, and coordination with the supervising physician.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical support staff to maintain efficient patient flow, continuity of care, and a positive patient experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current NCCPA certification for PAs, or national board certification through the AANP or ANCC for NPs.
  • Active Arizona PA or NP license, or the ability to obtain Arizona licensure before starting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant PA or NP clinical experience in an orthopedic, podiatric, foot-and-ankle, sports medicine, musculoskeletal, orthopedic-focused urgent care, or wound care setting.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience performing joint and/or soft-tissue injections.
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal examinations and interpretation of routine plain-film imaging.
  • Experience performing office-based clinical procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume outpatient specialty environment.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Background:

  • Orthopedic PA or NP experience, particularly in foot-and-ankle medicine.
  • Previous experience in a podiatry specialty practice.
  • Experience managing plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, arthritis, and other common lower-extremity musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Proficiency with injections, splinting, orthotics, and postoperative orthopedic care.
  • Wound care experience or a relevant certification.
  • Experience working in a physician-owned or procedure-focused specialty practice.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…

  • Enjoy evaluating and treating orthopedic, podiatric, and musculoskeletal conditions every day.
  • Prefer a procedural outpatient role where injections and hands-on treatments are a regular part of your practice.
  • Are comfortable managing a busy patient schedule while maintaining strong clinical standards.
  • Value autonomy but appreciate having an experienced specialist available for consultation.
  • Want to deepen your expertise in foot-and-ankle medicine while gaining exposure to additional nonsurgical treatment approaches.
  • Prefer a consistent weekday schedule without hospital or on-call responsibilities.

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…

  • Prefer broad primary care over a focused musculoskeletal and podiatric patient population.
  • Do not yet have two years of clinical experience in an orthopedic, podiatric, foot-and-ankle, sports medicine, musculoskeletal, orthopedic-focused urgent care, or wound care setting.
  • Prefer a primarily nonprocedural clinical role where injections and office-based treatments are rare.
  • Are uncomfortable with a busy outpatient schedule and consistent patient volume.
  • Prefer inpatient, emergency, or hospital-based practice.
  • Are looking for a position without routine foot care, wound assessments, or minor office procedures.

Why Join Us:

This opportunity offers the chance to build a rewarding outpatient specialty career centered on hands-on medicine, meaningful patient outcomes, and professional growth. You will join an established practice with consistent patient demand, experienced physician support, and the opportunity to expand your clinical skills while developing greater independence.

For an experienced PA or NP who enjoys orthopedic and foot-and-ankle care, this position offers an appealing combination of procedural variety, specialty collaboration, competitive compensation, and a predictable schedule.

We encourage qualified Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to apply. Please apply with your most updated resume/CV and include a brief summary of your orthopedic, foot-and-ankle, podiatry, injection, and other procedural experience. Applications are reviewed regularly, and qualified candidates can expect a timely hiring process. We look forward to meeting you!
