Job Description
In collaboration with the attending orthopedic surgeon, the provider will prepare and document patient histories, develop and implement plans of care, participate in daily rounds, and document symptoms, findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans. The provider will utilize the electronic medical record for order entry and documentation, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, respond to coding and documentation queries, and assist with quality and safety initiatives as requested.

  • Start Date: 2/16/2026
  • Shift type: Days
  • Schedule options: 4x10s or 5x8s

  • Call requirements:

    • 1–2 weeknights per week

    • Every third weekend

  • Weekend coverage required

  • On-call coverage required (nights and weekends)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Order and perform diagnostic studies including EMG, electrocardiograms, compartment pressure measurements, and imaging such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and bone scans.

  • Perform procedures including digital nerve blocks, regional anesthesia, tendon repair, wound closure and management, wound debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous fracture pinning, K-wire removal, and hardware removal.

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic orthopedic procedures such as joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points, and bursa, and application of braces, casts, and splints.

  • Assist in surgery as first assist, including deep and superficial tissue closures, application of orthopedic appliances, and other delegated surgical duties.

  • Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and assist orthopedic surgeons with inpatient care.

  • Serve as primary orthopedic call provider for patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient units, participating in weekday, weekend, holiday, night, and 24-hour call rotations.

  • Evaluate inpatient orthopedic conditions, formulate and implement treatment plans, complete histories and physicals, and dictate discharge summaries.
