Job description

Hope Valley Health is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join our primary care clinic in Buellton, California. This role will focus on occupational medicine, workers’ compensation, Veteran medical evaluations, employer-sponsored examinations, and primary care.

We are open to considering new graduate FNPs; however, prior experience in occupational medicine, workers’ compensation, disability evaluations, or similar examination-based clinical work is highly valuable and preferred.

This position is best suited for a provider who is comfortable learning structured examination requirements independently and who can quickly become proficient with documentation, reporting, and program-specific workflows.

Job Responsibilities

The FNP will perform a combination of:
Veteran medical evaluations, including VES/VA-related examinations after successful credentialing and completion of any required program-specific requirements
General medical and disability evaluations
Occupational health examinations
Workers’ compensation injury evaluations and follow-up visits
Pre-employment and employment physicals
Return-to-work and fitness-for-duty evaluations
DOT/CDL examinations, if appropriately certified
Other employer-sponsored medical examinations
Primary care visits during available clinic time
Telehealth visits when appropriate

The provider must be able to complete clinical documentation, examination reports, and required forms accurately, independently, and within required turnaround times.

Veteran Medical Evaluations

The provider may perform examinations for Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) and other organizations conducting medical evaluations for Veterans.

These visits are generally evaluation-focused rather than ongoing treatment visits. Participation is subject to successful credentialing and completion of all required VES/VA or program-specific requirements.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program
Current or eligible for California Nurse Practitioner licensure
Current national FNP certification
Current BLS certification
NPI or ability to obtain one
Strong clinical assessment and physical-examination skills
Strong medical documentation skills
Comfortable performing comprehensive medical histories and examinations
Ability to work independently and follow structured examination/reporting protocols
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet documentation deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

New graduates may apply; however, candidates with prior occupational-health or workers’ compensation experience will receive strong consideration.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous occupational medicine experience
Workers’ compensation experience
Experience evaluating work-related injuries
Experience with disability, functional capacity, or independent medical evaluations
Experience completing employer or insurance medical examinations
DOT Medical Examiner certification or willingness to obtain certification
Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
