Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Gynecological Oncology Support
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Setting: Inpatient, Emergency Room, Clinic, Level III Trauma Center
Shifts: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch) + night call 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM (2.5 hours unpaid)
Shifts per Month: Approximately 10
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide clinical support to a Gynecological Oncologist. The APP will play a vital role in managing gynecologic oncology patients across multiple care settings including inpatient, emergency department, clinic, and the operating room.
Job Responsibilities
Assist with surgical procedures as first assist in laparoscopic and open gynecologic oncology surgeries (e.g., hysterectomy, BSO, mass resections, lymph node dissections).
Perform pelvic exams, pap smears, simple biopsies, and other required procedures.
Round on gynecologic oncology patients in the hospital and manage inpatient care.
Participate in treatment decision-making alongside the internal GYN oncologist.
Respond to night calls, including consults from the hospital and ED.
Manage triage of problem visits and perform in-basket management within the EMR system.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RNs and LPNs/LVNs.
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing and able to round on patients, perform pelvic exams, triage urgent visits, and manage electronic communications.
Candidates must disclose experience with EPIC, including years used, last use date, and facility name.
Travel: Local/drive-in candidates highly preferred; lodging and travel policies to be followed if applicable.
Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 30 days, with emergency temporary privileges available.
Must be available for the scheduled shifts and complete all credentialing and training requirements promptly.
Qualifications
Board Certification (NP: ANCC, AANP, or NCC) required.
Active DEA license required (transfers considered if retained throughout assignment).
Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
Minimum 1 year experience in gynecologic surgery and oncology preferred.
Proven experience with pelvic exams, pap smears, surgical assisting, and patient consults.
Prior inpatient and clinic experience mandatory.
EPIC EMR experience preferred; must complete EMR training modules and virtual sessions prior to start date.
Ability to manage night call responsibilities and work flexible shifts.
Clean medical practice and background screening.
