About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a hospital-based Neurosurgery team in southeastern Virginia on a 7-on/7-off schedule. This position focuses on inpatient neurosurgical care, including trauma (spine and cranial), elective spine, and elective cranial patients. You will work closely with a large, collaborative team of neurosurgeons and APPs in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage patient volume of 20–30 per day or 8–15 per day, depending on assignment
- Perform required procedures including drain removal, shunt adjustments, and trauma/practice call responsibilities
- Participate in collaborative care with a team of 8 MDs and 9 APPs
- Document accurately using Epic EMR
- Support trauma, elective spine, and cranial cases
Qualifications
- Board Certified
- Experience in neurosurgery or high-acuity inpatient care preferred
- Strong procedural competency in drain removal and shunt adjustments
- Ability to work independently on overnight shifts
Working Hours
- Alternating 7 days off
- Inpatient-only coverage
Skills
- All travel and lodging expenses covered
- 7-on/7-off schedule: Monday–Sunday, 7 PM–7 AM
- No call shifts
