UVA is seeking experienced Autonomous Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to join its team. This is a full-time opportunity for a dedicated provider to deliver high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in an outpatient setting.
The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of relevant clinical experience and the ability to independently assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients within their scope of practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Job Responsibilities
-Exercise independent clinical judgment in evaluating patient needs and developing individualized treatment plans.
-Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories and assessments.
-Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate diagnostic tests and clinical information.
-Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans in accordance with Virginia regulations and established clinical guidelines.
-Monitor patient progress and evaluate responses to treatment.
-Provide patient education, counseling, and support regarding diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.
-Coordinate referrals and collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team when appropriate.
-Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with UVA Health policies and regulatory requirements.
-Participate in quality improvement, professional development, and other activities that support excellent patient care.
Qualifications
-Experience: Department and unit specific.
-Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
