Job description

Job description

Join one of Richmond’s leading independent, physician-led primary care groups, is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Extended Care Clinic.

Our Extended Care Clinic gives established patients timely access to care outside their regular primary care visits, for things like acute illnesses, minor injuries and same-day concerns. The role is mostly weekend shifts, with no evenings or overnights. You’ll practice with clinical independence, with our physicians as your collaborative support. Patients are in our existing panel, not high-volume walk-in traffic.

This role is ideal for APPs who want extra income alongside a full-time role, a flexible schedule, or a chance to strengthen their acute and primary care skills.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat established patients with acute illnesses, minor injuries and other primary care concerns
Perform assessments, and order and interpret diagnostic tests
Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications as appropriate
Collaborate with primary care physicians to ensure continuity of care
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care with timely, accurate documentation

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
NPs: national certification (AANP or ANCC) and a Virginia NP license or eligibility
PAs: NCCPA certification and a Virginia PA license or eligibility
Primary care, family medicine or urgent care experience preferred

Working Hours

Required: 2-3 Weekend Shifts a month
Weekend Hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Weekdays Optional: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, as needed
No evening or overnight shifts
Patient mix varies day to day, with a range of acute and primary care needs

Skills

Managing a broad range of outpatient acute care needs
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Clear, compassionate communication with patients
Collaboration with physicians and clinical staff
EMR proficiency
Adaptability in a fast-paced, varied clinic setting
