Job description
Traveling Nurse Practitioner – Occupational Medicine & Firefighter Health
Atlanta Metro Area, Georgia · $65–$75/hour · Full-Time
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A growing mobile occupational health organization is seeking Nurse Practitioners to provide preventive healthcare and on-site medical examinations for firefighters and other workplace populations. This opportunity suits clinicians who enjoy direct patient care, travel, and varied work environments.
Atlanta is one of the organization's operational hubs. Although the position is associated with the Atlanta Metro Area, the work requires extensive interstate travel and periodic overnight stays at assignments throughout the organization's service area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct medical histories, physical examinations, and occupational health assessments.
• Support firefighter examinations and occupational medical clearance within established protocols.
• Review screening and laboratory results and provide appropriate follow-up recommendations.
• Educate patients on preventive health and identified risk factors.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and required reports.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical support teams, and client representatives.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and consistent care quality across assignments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Appropriate national NP certification and active practice credentials.
• Ability to meet credentialing requirements for assigned states.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
Occupational health experience is a plus but is not required. Candidates with backgrounds in primary care, family medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, preventive health, or public safety healthcare are encouraged to apply. New graduates will be considered.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The hourly rate is $65–$75. Travel, lodging, meals, and approved travel expenses are covered under company policy. Physician support and clinical mentorship are available, with onboarding expectations based on experience.
ANTICIPATED START
The hiring team is prioritizing candidates who can start before the end of 2026, subject to credentialing and onboarding.
Please note: This is a travel-intensive position, not a local clinic role. Extensive interstate travel and overnight stays are essential.
