We are seeking a full-time Locum Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to support an adult inpatient behavioral health team in Mansfield Center, Connecticut.

This role is focused on medical oversight and physical health management for adult psychiatric inpatients. The provider will perform physical examinations, address general medical needs, and collaborate closely with the psychiatric and behavioral health teams.

Position Overview

The Family Nurse Practitioner will provide medical oversight for patients admitted to an adult inpatient psychiatric unit.

The provider will be responsible for completing physical examinations, managing general medical concerns, and supporting the overall physical health needs of the inpatient population.

This is an onsite position within a 56-bed inpatient behavioral health unit.

Patient Volume

• Approximately 10–12 patients per day

• Adult inpatient psychiatric population

• 56-bed unit

Key Responsibilities

• Perform admission and routine physical examinations

• Evaluate and manage general medical conditions in adult psychiatric inpatients

• Provide ongoing medical oversight throughout the patient’s admission

• Assess new medical complaints and determine appropriate treatment or escalation

• Order and review labs, diagnostics, and other medical testing as clinically appropriate

• Manage common chronic and acute medical conditions within scope of practice

• Coordinate with psychiatrists, nursing staff, social workers, and other members of the behavioral health team

• Collaborate with outside medical services or specialists when additional evaluation is required

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation

• Provide patient education related to general medical care and treatment plans

• Follow hospital policies, credentialing requirements, and standards of care

Requirements

• Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

• Active Connecticut license required

• Eligible for hospital credentialing

• Comfortable providing medical care within an inpatient psychiatric setting

• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with behavioral health and medical teams

• Prior inpatient or behavioral health experience preferred, but not required

• Prior travel/locum experience not required

Schedule & Overtime

• Full-time coverage

• No call

• Daily overtime applies after 8 hours, based on fixed contract terms

• Weekly overtime applies after 168 hours, based on fixed contract terms
