Position Summary
The organization is seeking a Stroke Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join its established neuroscience service line in Renton.The facility is a well-established, full-service regional medical center serving the greater Renton community and surrounding areas. It provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services supported by advanced diagnostic and treatment technology.

The role focuses on the evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic cerebrovascular conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with neurologists, hospitalists, and critical care teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based stroke care. Experienced stroke or neurology NPs are preferred; strong acute care backgrounds will be considered.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with acute ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, and TIA

  • Participate in stroke alerts and rapid response assessments

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including CT/MRI imaging and laboratory studies

  • Collaborate with neurology, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, and rehabilitation teams

  • Assist in post-stroke care planning and secondary prevention strategies

  • Provide patient and family education on stroke risk factors and recovery plans

  • Document clinical encounters accurately and timely within the EMR

  • Support quality initiatives aligned with stroke certification standards

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program

  • Licensure: Active Washington State APRN license (or eligibility)

  • Certification: Board Certified as FNP, Adult/Gerontology NP, or Acute Care NP

  • Experience: Prior stroke, neurology, ICU, or hospital-based experience preferred

  • Skills: Strong clinical decision-making skills in acute care environments
