Job Title: Correctional Nurse Practitioner
Location: Columbus, OH
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Shift: Day shift (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday)
Assignment Length: Approximately 6 months (with potential extension and permanent hire consideration)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) licensed in Ohio to provide on-site primary care services in a correctional healthcare setting. This full-time role supports both male and female patient populations and offers a structured weekday schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Provide routine, chronic, and emergency medical care within scope of practice
• Monitor and manage chronic illnesses using established clinical protocols
• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and diagnose new conditions
• Prescribe medications and administer treatments for acute and chronic conditions
• Administer immunizations and vaccinations
• Perform minor procedures as training and competency allow
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies
Care Coordination
• Evaluate patients for specialty referrals and review consultation reports
• Collaborate with medical leadership on treatment planning and care decisions
• Participate in infirmary rounds as appropriate
Documentation & Quality
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with healthcare standards
• Participate in quality improvement and clinical oversight activities
• Adhere to correctional healthcare policies and regulatory guidelines
Required Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license
• Board Certification (FNP or AGNP)
• Minimum of 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience in primary care or hospital medicine
• Current Healthcare Provider-level BLS/CPR certification
• Active DEA registration
