Job description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides direct patient care services within the scope of practice and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred primary care services, supporting clinical operations, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and compliant patient care.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with applicable laws and scope of practice
• Perform approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Provide patient education, counseling, and preventive care services
• Initiate and coordinate referrals and specialty consultations
• Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, medical assistants, and administrative teams
• Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives
• Adhere to all Hillside policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for documentation and clinical procedures
• Ability to use standard medical equipment including, but not limited to:
• EKG machines
• Blood pressure monitors
• Point-of-care testing devices
• Phlebotomy equipment
• Computers and EHR systems
• Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to perform clinical assessments and patient interactions
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current Board Certification: [FNP-C or FNP-BC OR PA-C]
• Current and unrestricted Texas license (or applicable state license for assigned location)
• Current DEA registration and controlled substance authority, as applicable
• Eligible for and maintain credentialing with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
• Eligible for and maintain professional liability (malpractice) insurance coverage
• Must not be excluded from participation in federal healthcare programs (OIG/GSA/SAM)
Working Hours
• Primarily outpatient clinical environment
• May require work across multiple clinic locations as operationally needed
Skills
• Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and credentials as a condition of employment
• Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, CMS, and Texas Medical Board rules
• Follow Hillside Medical Group and Hillside Primary Care policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
• Participate in required training, competency assessments, and compliance activities
