Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Location: Grafton OH 44044
Duration: 4 months to long term
Shift: Standard (M-F)
Hours/Week: 40 Hours/Week
SUMMARY:
Searching for a family or adult-gerontology nurse practitioner licensed to work in Ohio with at least one year of working NP experience in a primary care setting or hospital medicine to provide on-site primary care services full-time to the male population at this correctional facility. The schedule is weekdays only (no evenings, weekends, or holidays), and shift start/end times have some flexibility based on the facility's needs. The assignment is projected to last 4 months but may be extended based on continued need and mutual agreement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance
- Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows
- Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions
- Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly
- Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate
- With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary
- Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled
- Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable
- Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO
- Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters
- Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance
REQUIREMENT:
- BLS/CPR certification
- Ohio Medical License
- Copy of Board Certification
- Drug Enforcement Administration certification
