Duration: Minimum 4 months from projected start date
Education: Master’s Degree required
Position Summary
Seeking a NP to provide medical care in a correctional health setting. Daily duties include managing chronic and acute illnesses, performing physical exams, diagnosing conditions, and collaborating on treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and intervene in the course of chronic illnesses using institutional protocols.
• Administer vaccines, prescribe medications, and treat acute and chronic conditions.
• Conduct routine physical exams and diagnose new conditions.
• Order and interpret lab tests, x-rays, and other diagnostics; determine need for specialty referrals and review consult reports.
• Participate in medical reclassification and non-formulary medication requests in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer.
• Provide routine and emergency medical care; round on infirmary patients.
• Document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up parameters in compliance with correctional healthcare standards.
• Cooperate with medical quality oversight, accept feedback and apply guidance.
Requirements
• Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license (Family or Adult-Gerontology).
• Board certification as applicable.
• DEA certification as required for the assignment.
