Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner
Location: Dayton, OH 45417
Duration: 3 + Months (Long term)
Shift: Weekdays only (No evenings, weekends, or holidays)
Job Description & Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner to provide full-time, on-site primary care services for the female inmate population at a correctional institution.
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of NP experience in primary care or hospital medicine
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide routine and emergency medical care within the scope of Nurse Practitioner practice, as defined by the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Monitor and manage chronic illnesses in accordance with institutional policies and protocols.
• Conduct physical exams, diagnose new conditions, and manage follow-up care.
• Administer vaccines, prescribe medications, and perform minor procedures within competency limits.
• Order and review laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic test results.
• Evaluate the need for specialty referrals (both internal and external) and review reports from specialists.
• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for medication approvals and reclassifications.
• Document all patient encounters following institutional guidelines and applicable accreditation standards.
• Participate in infirmary rounds and support quality assurance initiatives.
Required Documents
• Active Ohio Nurse Practitioner license
• BLS/CPR certification
• Board certification (e.g., ANCC Certificate for nurses)
• DEA certification as required
