Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatry/Geriatrics to join our team. The NP will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care to geriatric patients, addressing their unique mental health needs with compassion and expertise.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments of geriatric patients, including mental health history, symptoms, and functional status.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs and goals.

  • Provide evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for mental health disorders prevalent in geriatric populations, such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related behaviors, and psychosis.

  • Perform medication management, including prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring for therapeutic efficacy and side effects.

  • Offer psychotherapy and counseling services to address emotional and behavioral concerns, utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and other modalities.

  • Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessment for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or suicidal ideation.

  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and strategies for managing symptoms.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) documenting patient assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and progress notes.

  • Stay informed about current developments in geriatric psychiatry, including research findings, best practices, and emerging treatments.

  • Adhere to ethical standards, professional guidelines, and regulatory requirements governing psychiatric practice.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in clinical nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

  • 3-5 years of nursing experience, preferably as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority

  • Experience working in psychiatric care, preferably with geriatric populations

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to older adults with mental health challenges.
