Job Description

Last Update: 4/25/24
St. Luke’s Neonatology in Idaho is seeking NNPs to join 12 BC Neonatologists and 19 NNPs to assist with coverage of our four St. Luke’s NICUs. St. Luke’s has facilities located throughout southwestern and central Idaho. This employed-provider practice covers the largest and most comprehensive NICU in the state at St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise, where we care for up to 61 critically ill newborns along with a comprehensive team of pediatric subspecialists. The Boise NICU is Level 4 (minus cardiac surgery and ECMO) and has an ADC of 38 with 800 admissions per year. NNPs are present 24/7 at the Boise facility, and share night coverage with an in-house Neonatologist. The St. Luke's Magic Valley NICU in Twin Falls (Level 3) has beds for up to 18 infants. The Neonatologist is in-house during the day, while the NNP covers in-house at night. Our two Level 2 NICUs are located in Meridian (13 beds) and Nampa (15 beds). NNPs provide in-house coverage in our Level 2 facilities (typically 24h shifts) with Neonatologists rounding on all infants in-house at least once daily, then providing backup from home at night. St. Luke’s Neonatology has been a VON member since 1992. We follow outcomes data closely and use it to drive quality improvement initiatives. CME opportunities and conference travel are supported and encouraged. Our team is committed to maintaining the highest quality outcomes and staying current with contemporary evidence-based approaches to care. We have a long history of offering NNP clinical training, and our new Pediatric Residency program started in 2023 with residents beginning their NICU rotations in 2024. Both will provide excellent opportunities for teaching and mentoring new providers. St. Luke’s Health System is the largest private employer in Idaho and serves a regional area with a 250-mile radius and a population of over 1.1 million. St. Luke’s has a dedicated and highly skilled Maternal-Child Transport Team providing the majority of regional transport services for newborns, children, and pregnant mothers in southwestern Idaho. Boise has been rated by Outside magazine, Money magazine, Forbes, the Brookings Institute, and KPMG as one of the top U.S. cities in which to live. The capitol city and surrounding communities offer exceptional educational, recreational, and family-focused activities and one of the highest growth rates in the nation, demanding additional professional resources. There is a strong and growing tech industry and unemployment rates are well below the national average. Excellent public and private school systems are available. The Boise metropolitan statistical area offers an impressive number of cultural opportunities to its population of 811,000 residents. Less than two hours away, Twin Falls has seen rapid growth and provides easy access to Sun Valley resort and multiple recreational opportunities while boasting a very affordable cost of living. Our practice values work-life balance, and we believe in providing a coverage structure that allows us to take advantage of the wonderful amenities that Idaho has to offer. We would love to discuss our current and future opportunities further with interested candidates!
