Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Perform histories, physical examinations, and ongoing patient evaluations.
- Develop and manage treatment plans in collaboration with intensivists and supervising physicians.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Manage ventilator-dependent patients and patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
- Perform critical care procedures within scope of practice and credentialing, including arterial lines, central venous access, and other applicable procedures.
- Respond to medical emergencies, rapid response calls, and code situations.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
- Coordinate patient care plans with physicians, nurses, specialists, and ancillary departments.
- Provide patients and families with education regarding treatment plans and prognosis.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education initiatives.
