Pediatric Critical Care NP Locums | Flagstaff, AZ | 24-Hour In-House Shift

Med Ninjas is seeking an experienced Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for in-house coverage in Flagstaff, Arizona.

This is a hospital-based PICU and pediatric assignment involving a varied pediatric census, including trauma and neurosurgical patients.

Assignment Highlights

• Location: Flagstaff, Arizona
• Setting: Hospital-based Pediatrics and PICU
• Coverage date: November 2 or November 3, 2026
• Shift: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
• Coverage type: 24-hour in-house shift
• Call: None
• Patient population: Newborn through age 18
• Daily census: Approximately 7–15 patients
• EMR: Cerner
• Openings: 1

Clinical Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner will provide inpatient care for pediatric and PICU patients and must be comfortable independently performing:

• Endotracheal intubation
• Central-line placement
• Arterial-line placement
• Lumbar puncture
• Pediatric critical-care evaluations and management
• Care of pediatric trauma patients
• Care of pediatric neurosurgical patients

The facility does not provide ECMO, CRRT, or transplant services.

Requirements

• Current Nurse Practitioner board certification
• Active Arizona NP license
• Active Arizona DEA
• Recent Pediatric Critical Care or PICU experience
• Current procedural competency
• Current case logs
• Ability to complete required facility credentialing
• Ability to complete Cerner training before the shift
• Current health and vaccination documentation according to facility guidelines

The facility is not considering candidates who require Arizona licensing for this coverage need.

Credentialing and Training

Candidates must be prepared to complete credentialing documentation promptly due to the upcoming coverage date.

Cerner training includes:

• Online Cerner learning modules
• Additional system customization with an educator
• Completion before the first scheduled shift

Travel

Approved travel expenses may be available according to facility guidelines, including:

• Economy airfare
• Lodging
• Economy rental car
• Mileage reimbursement
• Standard baggage and airport transportation expenses

All travel arrangements require advance approval.
