Job description
• Locum tenens Critical Care APP opportunity at a major teaching hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
• The APP will work as a responding clinician in a 10-bed adult ICU.
• The ICU has an average daily census of approximately 7 patients.
• APPs work with attending physicians during the day and fellows/attendings during night shifts.
• Some clinical independence is expected, with 4 APPs on staff who are supervised.
• Epic is used for electronic medical records and charting.
• Patient population is adult.
• No APP procedures are required.

Job Responsibilities
• Complete assigned patient care tasks and follow-up activities.
• Round again with the clinical team in the afternoon.
• Serve as a responding clinician for ICU patients.
• Provide bread-and-butter ICU and medical-surgical patient care.
• Evaluate and respond to patient needs within the ICU.
• Collaborate with physicians, fellows, and other APPs.
• Manage routine critical care responsibilities within the established scope of practice.
• No intubations, central lines, ventilator management, ECHO, EVD, transplant, or complex neuro-stroke procedures required.
• No procedures are required for APPs.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience required.
• Massachusetts state license required for NPs.
• ACLS certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• DEA registration required.
• Board certification in Acute Care with ICU experience required.
• Must be available for credentialing, which may take approximately 90 days.
• Local candidates are strongly preferred due to the no-travel requirement.
Working Hours
• Day shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
• Night shift: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Weekend and night coverage is primarily needed.
• Preferred: approximately 4 weekend shifts per month.
• Minimum: 2 weekend shifts per month.
• Friday night shifts count as weekend coverage.
• Provider does not need to work all 3 shifts every weekend.
