NP / PA – Day Shift

Coverage Overview

  • Provider Type: NP / PA

  • Shift: Day Shift

  • Schedule: Full time (3 × 12-hour shifts weekly)

  • Shift Hours: 7:00am – 7:30pm (includes time for sign-out to oncoming shift)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU setting

    • Typical APP-to-patient ratio: 10–15 ICU patients per APP (attending MD also available)

  • Collaborate with attending MDs to develop plans of care and communicate dynamic changes throughout the shift

  • Conduct ongoing patient assessments and implement appropriate interventions

  • Order entry and documentation in Cerner EMR, including:

    • History & Physicals

    • Consultations

    • Event / Follow-up Notes

    • Procedure Notes

  • Interpret diagnostic testing

  • Communicate with ICU nursing staff

  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds each shift

  • Perform invasive procedures including (but not limited to):

    • Central line insertions (CVLs, vascaths, introducers)

    • Arterial line insertions

    • All procedures must comply with hospital MSO credentialing

Qualifications

  • NP Candidates: MUST be Acute Care Certified

  • ACNP or PA with valid national and state licensure

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an APP in an ICU setting

  • Proficiency with ICU procedures, specifically central and arterial line insertions
