Surgery Cardiothoracic NP Needed in Baltimore, MD

Highlights:

• Board-certified Physician Assistant with dedicated cardiothoracic surgery experience providing comprehensive perioperative, intraoperative and postoperative care for adult cardiac and thoracic surgery patients across high-volume hospital and academic medical center settings.
• Extensive first assist experience in CABG, AVR, MVR, aortic surgery, VATS and robotic (Da Vinci) thoracic procedures, including independent chest closures, chest tube management and temporary pacing wire removal.
• Skilled in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) with 160+ successful Maquet Vasoview 2 cases, supporting coronary artery bypass grafting procedures with a strong focus on surgical efficiency and patient outcomes.
• Provides comprehensive postoperative management through CVICU and step-down unit rounding, including hemodynamic monitoring, critical care management, treatment planning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Experienced in the perioperative management of advanced mechanical circulatory support patients, including LVAD and RVAD cases, with expertise in postoperative cardiac surgery recovery and critical care.

Proficient in managing complex cardiothoracic surgery patients across the continuum of care, delivering evidence-based, patient-centered treatment while collaborating closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff and multidisciplinary care teams.

• This position will require extensive OR experience with the ability to independently harvest vein (radial is a plus, but not mandatory), manage open-heart surgery patients (after discharged from the ICU), and perform consults.
• Weekday working shifts: 10 hours (7am - 5pm), Weekday call shifts: (7am - 7am), Weekend call shifts: 7am Saturday to 7am Monday. No in-hospital rounding.
• Must have strong vein harvesting skills
• Prefer MD licensed candidates but open to licensing if needed.
• Credentialing takes about 90-120 days
