Locum Cardiovascular Surgery APP Opportunity – Connecticut

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with cardiac surgery inpatient experience for a full-time locum assignment in Connecticut. This opportunity offers the potential to transition into a permanent position for interested candidates.

Assignment Details

• Assignment Length: Approximately 13–17 weeks
• Coverage Reason: Temporary coverage
• Potential for Permanent Hire: Yes
• Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Shift Schedule

• Three 13-hour shifts per week
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Rotating schedule with a team of seven additional APPs
• Weekend rotation approximately every 3–6 weekends, depending on staffing and vacation schedules
• No call responsibilities

Practice Setting

• Inpatient cardiovascular surgery service
• Operating Room and inpatient coverage
• Collaborative cardiac surgery team
• Floating may be required within the service line

Responsibilities

• Inpatient management of cardiac surgery patients
• Preoperative and postoperative patient care
• Daily rounding and care coordination
• Chest tube insertion and management
• Surgical first assist for cardiac procedures (preferred)
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Documentation utilizing Epic EMR

Required Qualifications

• Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Prior inpatient cardiac surgery experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Chest tube insertion and management experience required
• First Assist experience in cardiac surgery preferred (candidates without OR first assist experience may still be considered if they possess strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience)
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Prior travel/locum experience preferred
