Job description

Job description We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery to join the surgical team in Grand Forks, ND for a 17-week assignment. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. This role involves pre-operative assessments, post-operative management, and coordination of patient care throughout the surgical process.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments for cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Assist in the management of pre-operative and post-operative care
• Evaluate patient conditions, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans
• Manage surgical patients in collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons
• Monitor patient recovery and respond to changes in clinical status
• Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, and care plans
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Active Nurse Practitioner license in North Dakota (or ability to obtain)
• Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC)
• Experience in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac care, or surgical services preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills

Working Hours

• 17-week assignment (April 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026)
