A respected and growing ophthalmic healthcare organization in Southwest Virginia is seeking a confident and clinically skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its ambulatory surgical team.

The selected provider will practice independently in an established ophthalmic surgical environment while collaborating with experienced surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and administrative professionals.
This role offers a stable outpatient setting with guaranteed hours, no weekend responsibilities, and the opportunity to provide high-quality anesthesia care in a focused surgical environment.
Job Responsibilities
Review:
Medical history
Medications
Allergies
Laboratory findings
Surgical plans
Develop individualized anesthesia care plans
Independently administer anesthesia according to applicable regulations and professional standards
Monitor patient status throughout procedures, including:
Cardiovascular function
Respiratory status
Neurological status
Physiological responses
Manage airway, medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related needs
Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
Provide postoperative anesthesia care and recovery support
Evaluate patients for safe transition through post-anesthesia care
Maintain accurate clinical documentation
Perform anesthesia equipment and medication safety checks
Follow infection prevention and quality protocols
Collaborate with surgeons and perioperative staff
Participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia educational program
Current CRNA certification through NBCRNA
Active Virginia RN license and applicable advanced practice credentials, or ability to obtain
Eligible to practice as a CRNA in Virginia
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Strong knowledge of:
Anesthesia pharmacology
Airway management
Patient monitoring
Perioperative safety
Ability to independently assess patients and make clinical decisions
Strong communication and documentation skills
Commitment to patient safety and quality care
Preferred:
Previous independent CRNA experience
Ambulatory surgery center experience
Ophthalmic anesthesia experience
Experience in efficient procedural environments
Experience managing outpatient surgical patients
Strong collaboration with surgical teams
Working Hours
Predictable outpatient surgical schedule
Monday–Friday environment
No weekend responsibilities
No holiday shifts
