Independent CRNA – Ophthalmic Surgery | $200–$250/Hour | No Weekends
An established and growing ambulatory ophthalmic surgical practice in the Roanoke metropolitan area is seeking a confident and clinically skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its surgical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a CRNA who values clinical autonomy, predictable scheduling, professional independence, and work-life balance.
The CRNA will provide anesthesia care in an established ambulatory ophthalmic surgical environment while working collaboratively with experienced surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and other perioperative professionals.

Job Responsibilities
Preoperative Care
Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations.
Review medical histories, medications, allergies, laboratory results, and surgical plans.
Identify anesthesia-related risks.
Develop individualized anesthesia plans.
Explain anesthesia plans, expectations, and postoperative considerations to patients.
Intraoperative Anesthesia Care
Independently administer anesthesia within applicable regulations and organizational policies.
Continuously monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and physiological status.
Recognize and appropriately respond to changes in patient condition.
Manage airways, medications, fluids, and other anesthesia-related clinical needs.
Maintain patient safety throughout procedures.
Postoperative Care
Provide appropriate post-anesthesia care.
Evaluate patients for safe transition through post-anesthesia recovery.
Identify and respond to postoperative concerns.
Provide appropriate patient and family education.
Clinical & Operational Responsibilities
Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
Perform required anesthesia equipment and medication safety checks.
Follow infection-prevention and medication-safety protocols.
Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and facility leadership.
Maintain a calm, professional, and patient-centered environment.
Qualifications
Current CRNA certification through NBCRNA.
Active Virginia RN and applicable advanced-practice credentials, or ability to obtain them.
Authorization to practice as a CRNA in Virginia.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Strong knowledge of anesthesia pharmacology and airway management.
Strong patient-monitoring and perioperative safety skills.
Ability to assess patients and exercise independent clinical judgment.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Ability to work effectively in an efficient ambulatory surgical environment.
Working Hours
No weekend responsibilities.
