Job description
A respected and growing ophthalmic healthcare organization is seeking a clinically accomplished Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its established ambulatory surgical team.
This opportunity is designed for a CRNA who values clinical autonomy, predictable scheduling, strong earning potential, and work-life balance.
The CRNA will practice independently within an established ophthalmic surgical environment while collaborating closely with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and other perioperative professionals.
The full-time position offers $291,200 annual compensation, guaranteed hours, eight weeks of paid time off, and no weekend responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
Review medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory findings, and surgical plans
Identify anesthesia-related risks
Develop individualized anesthesia plans
Educate patients regarding anesthesia, risks, expectations, and recovery
Independently administer anesthesia in accordance with applicable Virginia requirements and organizational standards
Continuously monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and physiological status
Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
Manage airways, medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related clinical needs
Provide postoperative anesthesia and recovery support
Evaluate patients for safe transition through post-anesthesia care
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
Perform anesthesia equipment and medication safety checks
Follow infection prevention, medication safety, and quality protocols
Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and leadership
Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives
Provide calm, compassionate patient care
Qualifications
Current CRNA certification through NBCRNA
Active Virginia RN license and applicable advanced-practice credentials, or eligibility to obtain
Eligible to practice as a CRNA in Virginia
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Strong knowledge of anesthesia pharmacology
Strong airway-management and patient-monitoring skills
Demonstrated ability to independently assess patients and make clinical decisions
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Commitment to patient safety and clinical quality
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical environment
Preferred Qualifications
Previous independent CRNA practice
Ambulatory surgery center experience
Ophthalmic anesthesia experience
Experience in a high-efficiency procedural environment
Strong preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative anesthesia experience
Experience managing medically complex or higher-risk outpatient patients
Demonstrated collaboration with surgeons and perioperative teams
