A respected ophthalmic surgical organization in Roanoke, Virginia is seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its established ambulatory surgery team.

The selected CRNA will work in a high-efficiency outpatient surgical environment alongside experienced ophthalmic surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and clinical support staff.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations
• Review medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory findings, and planned procedures
• Develop individualized anesthesia plans
• Educate patients regarding anesthesia expectations and postoperative care
• Independently administer anesthesia within applicable scope and standards
• Monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, neurologic, and physiologic status throughout procedures
• Manage airways, medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related clinical needs
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
• Provide postoperative anesthesia and recovery support
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Complete appropriate medication, equipment, and safety checks
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and surgical technologists
• Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
• Current CRNA certification through the NBCRNA
• Active Virginia RN and applicable advanced-practice credentials, or eligibility to obtain them
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Strong airway-management and anesthesia pharmacology knowledge
• Ability to practice independently and make sound clinical decisions
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Commitment to patient safety and high-quality perioperative care

Preferred

• Previous independent CRNA experience
• Ambulatory surgery center experience
• Ophthalmic anesthesia experience
• Experience in high-volume or high-efficiency procedural settings
• Strong preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative anesthesia experience
