Major Duties of the Position:

• Provide quality outpatient anesthesia services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran population.
• Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing outpatient procedures.
• Administer various types of anesthetics (general, regional, and local) to patients undergoing outpatient procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs during procedures, and manage their post-anesthesia recovery throughout the outpatient setting.
• Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
• Manage pain control and provide consultative services for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain in the outpatient setting.
• Participate in the development and implementation of anesthesia policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
• Teach and mentor nursing students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research.
