Job Description

Last Update: 5/02/24

To our prospective teammates,

I am the CRNA director for Sound Anesthesia at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, MI. I started my time at Sound as a locums provider and was blown away by the culture and overall level of care that the Sound anesthesia group provided. I took a full-time position at our hospital and have grown into a leadership role. I am excited to share that we have a CRNA opportunity at our hospital that you may be interested in. I am proud of the anesthesia practice we have built and welcome interest from CRNAs coming out of training or looking to make a career change. I want to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:

People:
  • We are a closely-knit all-CRNA crew.
  • The anesthesia team is truly a family that strives to provide the best quality of care possible in our small town of Laurium.
  • As a leader, I strive to support all our providers and give them the tools, framework, and resources necessary to do their best work.
  • We pride ourselves on working as a team and supporting each other. The OR is a dynamic environment that requires a certain amount of flexibility, coordination, and teamwork. We are at our best when collaborating with all specialties including surgeons, nurses, techs, and administration.
  • We encourage our clinicians to practice at the top of their license. They are involved in every aspect of the perioperative process including PAT and schedule coordination, intraoperative care, and postoperative management.
  • As a clinician at AKH, you dictate your anesthesia plan and place your own blocks and lines. Furthermore, we are well respected within the facility and participate in administrative meetings. Our input is vital to policy creation and process enhancement.
Practice:
  • Aspirus Keweenaw is a non-profit, community-directed healthcare organization based in Laurium, MI, with clinics and outreach services in Laurium, Calumet, Houghton, and Lake Linden. Aspirus Keweenaw is part of the Aspirus, Inc. exclusive hospital and clinic network, home health and hospice care, pharmacy, critical care, medical goods, and a philanthropic foundation.
  • We cover an average of 90-100 cases per month.
  • Our team covers general, ortho, eyes, podiatry, OB/GYN, urology, and minimal peds.
  • No heads, hearts, or vascular.
  • The schedule is 3 weeks on, 1 week off. Monday – Thursday, 10-hour days.
  • Call is 1:4, split evenly.
  • A sign-on and relocation bonus is available.
Purpose:
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our anesthesia practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
