Inpatient Urologist (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Inpatient Urologist provides comprehensive urologic care to hospitalized patients. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute and complex urologic conditions in the inpatient setting, including surgical and consultative services, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and perioperative management using evidence-based, patient-centered practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide inpatient urology consultation services for hospitalized patients

Evaluate and manage acute urologic conditions such as urinary obstruction, infection, hematuria, urologic trauma, and complications of malignancy

Perform urologic surgical and procedural interventions consistent with training and privileges

Manage perioperative and postoperative urologic care, including complications and follow-up planning

Interpret diagnostic studies including imaging, cystoscopy, and laboratory results

Collaborate with hospitalists, emergency medicine, critical care, oncology, nephrology, and surgical teams

Participate in emergency and on-call coverage for urology services

Coordinate transitions of care and appropriate outpatient follow-up

Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives

Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicable

Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school

Completion of an accredited Urology residency program

Board-eligible or board-certified in Urology

Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure

DEA registration or eligibility
