Neurology Chair Physician

Chair, Department of Neurology - Creighton University/CHI Health

The Department of Neurology at Creighton University School of Medicine in partnership with CHI Health and Creighton University Medical Center seeks a nationally recognized, full-time, tenure track Clinician-Investigator at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Chair of the Department of Neurology. This opportunity is prepared for a visionary leader to to further develop the Creighton Neurology Department into a world-class local & regional destination for excellent neuroscience patient care, education, and research.

Currently the department is poised for future clinical, educational, and research growth, with high demand on its clinical services that extend from the greater Omaha community to the underserved areas of Western Nebraska and Eastern Iowa. Its faculty have trained at premiere institutions across the country and offer cutting-edge clinical services, such as neuromuscular ultrasound and MR-guided focused ultrasound therapy for movement disorders. In addition, the department works closely with the rapidly expanding Creighton Neurosurgery and Neuropsychology departments to provide top-notch clinical care.
The research program currently includes participation in multi-site STROKENET studies as well as investigator-initiated translational research studies in collaboration with Creighton's growing Pharmacology and Neuroscience Department.
A core value of the department is teaching neurology to Creighton's medical students, PA students, and residents, including two neurology residents a year.

Qualified candidates will have a record of significant academic and clinical accomplishments with a history of accomplished peer-reviewed publications and consistent research productivity. Experience with academic programs and funded research are desirable. Experience mentoring trainees and junior faculty. Outstanding teaching and clinical skills. The Chair should be an exceptional clinician who is still active clinically. Candidates must be board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have experience within an ACGME accredited training program.
Finally, the ideal candidate should be excited about the challenge of attracting competitive faculty, expanding research and teaching, and guiding the department through a projected period of explosive growth towards excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
