Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is currently recruiting a board certified general/trauma surgeon for our surgicalist program in the beautiful town of Athens, Georgia. Along with the clinical duties of this position, the department is also seeking a medical director for our growing Trauma II facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an ideal candidate to build a surgical/clinical practice and also to be actively engaged with the medical team at Piedmont Athens and other physician leaders across the system. The surgicalist team at Piedmont Athens is a group of excellent clinicians seeking a strong leader to continue building the team in order to provide our patients excellent quality of care that is customary in all of the Piedmont facilities across the state of Georgia.

The ideal candidate will be board certified with a minimum of three years of experience. Trauma and Critical Care expertise is important. Candidates must possess skill set to perform routine general surgery procedures as well as acute care surgery. Most procedures are minimally invasive with some complex cases in our Level II Trauma Center. Piedmont Athens Hospital has an excellent critical care team to assist in the care of patients in the ICU, as well as other clinical service lines to support the full scope of patient care at the highest level as is present in all of our Piedmont locations across the state of Georgia.

The work schedule consists of a rotation of days/nights shifts on a monthly basis: 7 days on with approximately 12-14-hour shifts; 7 days off. The team is comprised of six surgicalists, and additional APP support. The administrative duties included in the position as medical director is manageable to achieve an acceptable work/life balance with additional compensation in the package.
