The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and the Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn within the Department of Surgery are recruiting for a Trauma/ Critical Care Surgeon to join our team of physicians. The position is split between two locations; the OSUWMC main campus and OSU East Hospital locations. The successful candidate will handle trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care cases with the possibility of also having an elective general surgery practice. Opportunities for translational and clinical research is available.

Qualifications:

  • Board Eligible/Certified in Surgery

  • Board Eligible/Certified in Surgical Critical Care

  • A minimum of 3 years of academic experience

  • Eligible for State of Ohio medical licensure

  • Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

The Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Burn concentrates efforts in clinical care, research, and education related to patients with acute surgical problems. The division delivers high-quality care to patients suffering from surgical critical illness, trauma, emergency general surgery diseases, and burns. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on the main campus is an established Level I Trauma Center seeing approximately 2,700 trauma patients annually. OSU East Hospital opened its trauma center in September 2018 and has experienced an ongoing growth of patient volume. We have an accredited surgical critical care fellowship that matches four fellows each year. We also have an acute care surgery fellowship.

The Medical Center has over 1,300 patient beds, performs over 44,000 surgeries per year, and has over 1.7 million annual outpatient visits. Established in 1914, the Ohio State Department of Surgery has a long and respected tradition of excellence in clinical care, research and education. The overall Department of Surgery is composed of nine surgical specialty divisions and seven centers. Collectively, the Department of Surgery performs over 21,000 cases annually and was ranked 15th according to the Blue Ridge rankings for NIH funding among surgery departments nationally.
