Assignment Details:
- Inpatient Schedule: Coverage is required from 5 pm to 7 am for Trauma and General Surgery.
- Responsibilities: The physician will provide in-house nightly coverage for Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery services. They will also cover ER overnight for trauma and general surgery.
- Coverage Model: The typical coverage schedule is as follows:
- Monday: 5 pm to Tuesday 7 am
- Tuesday: 5 pm to Wednesday 7 am
- Wednesday: 5 pm to Thursday 7 am
- Thursday: 5 pm to Friday 7 am
- OFF Friday night
- 24-hour call coverage Saturday 7 am to Sunday 7 am (Physician will “clean up” from call Sunday morning, usually wrapping up around noon).
- 24-hour backup call Sunday 7 am to Monday 7 am.
- Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working in a busy trauma center and large, fast-paced facility.
- Required procedures include handling predominantly blunt trauma, penetrating trauma, emergent general surgery procedures, and some ICU bedside procedures such as tracheotomy, PEG tube, chest tube, etc.
- Experience with adult and pediatric trauma.
- EMR System: EPIC
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgical Critical Care AND General Surgery.
- Licensed in South Carolina (SC Medical License), SC Controlled Substance License, and permanently registered DEA in SC.
- Active Controlled Substance Registration.
