Position Overview
One of our Partners, is seeking a Board-Certified Transplant Surgeon to provide low-volume weekend call coverage (1 weekend per month) during recruitment.
This opportunity is structured on the low end of 2026 transplant locum call market rates, appropriate for a non–in-house call model with resident coverage and no ICU responsibility.
Estimated Annual Earnings (1 weekend/month): $252,000
Assignment Highlights
- Structured weekend call only (1 weekend/month)
- Friday Night + Saturday 24hr + Sunday 24hr
- Not required to remain on-site while on call
- Resident support in place
- Inpatient transplant service only
- Average inpatient census: 8–12
- Avg admissions/day: 0–3
- Avg admissions/night: 0–1
- 10–12 transplant cases/month
- 125–150 transplants annually
- Travel prepaid
- Malpractice coverage provided
- HPA Healthcare is a Joint Commission–certified agency
Job Responsibilities
- Weekend transplant call coverage
- Review and accept organ offers
- Perform deceased donor renal transplant
- Perform deceased donor simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant
- Manage inpatient transplant patients with resident team
- Coordinate with transplant coordinators and multidisciplinary team
Skills & Experience
- Fellowship trained in Transplant Surgery
- Board Certified in General Surgery
- Minimum 5 years transplant surgery experience
- Active NC license (IMLC preferred)
- BLS & ACLS (AHA)
- Academic hospital experience preferred
