Position Summary
The Principal Abdominal Donor Procurement Surgeon plays a critical role in driving advanced organ preservation technology utilization for liver transplantation. This position involves performing surgical liver retrievals and ensuring the highest quality of surgical assessment and procurement procedures for transplant programs nationwide.

Position Summary
The Principal Abdominal Donor Procurement Surgeon plays a critical role in driving advanced organ preservation technology utilization for liver transplantation. This position involves performing surgical liver retrievals and ensuring the highest quality of surgical assessment and procurement procedures for transplant programs nationwide.
Job Responsibilities
⦁ Perform all aspects of abdominal donor procurement surgery, including donor organ assessment, retrieval, and instrumentation according to company training standards and clinical protocols.
⦁ Maintain and standardize surgical retrieval quality across all procedures.
⦁ Participate in developing and refining protocols for surgical retrieval, donor organ management, and communication related to abdominal organ procurements.
⦁ Assist in training and mentoring other surgical retrieval team members, including proctoring procedures for junior surgeons.
⦁ Conduct full surgical assessment and instrumentation procedures for donor livers, including back-table vascular anastomoses when required.
⦁ Communicate effectively with transplant program surgeons to provide clinical insights that support donor organ acceptance decisions.
⦁ Collaborate closely with internal clinical staff to facilitate the organ allocation and management process.
⦁ Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
⦁ MD degree with a minimum of 5+ years of experience performing deceased abdominal donor organ procurements, organ assessments, and/or advanced abdominal surgical procedures.
⦁ At least 2 years of experience serving as the primary liver retrieval surgeon.
⦁ Fellowship training in transplant surgery (ASTS or equivalent) preferred.
⦁ Demonstrated record of successful DBD or DCD donor retrievals (logbook required).
⦁ Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
⦁ Ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining professionalism and surgical precision.
⦁ Proficiency with electronic communication systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Requirements
⦁ Must comply with hospital credentialing and health requirements, including full vaccination per hospital policy (reasonable accommodations considered where applicable).
⦁ Willingness to travel frequently across the U.S. to perform donor organ procurements.

⦁ ASTS Transplant Fellowship or equivalent transplant surgery experience
