Job description
We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position in Long Beach, California. This is an adult cardiac surgery call coverage opportunity in an acute care hospital setting. Please see below for more information.

- Epic EMR
Job Responsibilities
Serve as first assist on cardiac cases and as primary surgeon as needed
Perform inpatient rounding on cardiac surgery patients
Provide backup coverage for TAVR cases
Provide standby coverage for lead extractions
Manage ECMO and aortic cases within scope
Co-manage CVICU patients alongside intensivists
Work collaboratively with other cardiac surgeons, surgical PAs, and a dedicated first assist available for all cardiac cases
Adult cardiac cases only; no thoracic coverage, no LVAD, and no transplant cases
Complete all clinical documentation in Epic
Qualifications
Active California medical license
Active DEA registration
Working Hours
Call rotation averages 1 in 3
After-hours coverage is beeper call; provider must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call
No clinic responsibilities
No separate administrative time
