Position Overview
Seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a high-acuity weekend call locum opportunity. This role supports urgent cardiac surgical cases in a busy hospital setting, including cath lab transfers, ICU-to-OR pathways, and postoperative management.
This is a weekend-intensive, high-responsibility cardiac surgery coverage role ideal for surgeons comfortable managing acute cases with limited on-site support and strong independent decision-making.
Schedule
- Weekend Coverage: 3 weekends per month
- Shift Structure: Friday 12:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
- Coverage Type: 24-hour in-house/remote call
- Call Expectations: 2–4 hours daily callback including rounding
- Start Date: May 10, 2026

Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide cardiothoracic surgical call coverage for a high-acuity inpatient population
- Manage urgent cardiac surgical cases from cath lab to OR
- Support ICU-to-OR and postoperative cardiac care transitions
- Evaluate and manage adult cardiac surgical patients (18+)
- Provide consultative surgical leadership for urgent cases
- Collaborate with ICU, cardiology, and surgical teams
- Surgeon backup available after consult

Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery (required)
- Active Pennsylvania license required
- DEA required
- Minimum 1 year experience required
- Comfortable with independent weekend call coverage in high-acuity setting
