Description
A Pennsylvania-based healthcare system is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for weekend call coverage. This position focuses on urgent cardiac surgical cases, consults from cath lab, and inpatient management. The surgeon will work with APP support and backup surgeon availability after consults.
This is a weekend-only opportunity with 24-hour call and limited callback hours, offering a balanced call schedule and ongoing assignment.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage
- Handle urgent cardiac surgical cases
- Respond to cath lab consults
- Perform emergency cardiothoracic procedures when required
- Manage ICU to discharge patient workflow
- Collaborate with APP support staff
- Provide inpatient rounding as needed
- Document encounters using Epic EMR
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active Pennsylvania license or willingness to obtain
- DEA required
- Minimum 1 year cardiothoracic surgery experience
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Working Hours
3 weekends per month
Friday 12:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
24-hour call coverage
Average callback: 2–4 hours per day
