Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon Needs in MI!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage. The physician will perform adult cardiac and general thoracic procedures while supporting clinical care and overnight call coverage. This role focuses on weekday coverage with night call and no weekend call responsibilities.

Dates / Schedule

• Start Date: ASAP

• Coverage Need: Minimum 3 weeks per month

• Schedule: Monday–Friday during clinic hours

• Call Coverage: Night call only

• Weekend Call: None

• Average Weekend Volume: ~1 case per weekend (when applicable)

• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days

Job Details / Responsibilities

• Provide hospital-based cardiothoracic surgical care for adult patients at a Level I trauma center.

• Perform adult cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures and participate in perioperative care.

• Support clinical operations including consultations, surgical procedures, and overnight call coverage.

• Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management.

• Work with access to two dedicated cardiovascular surgery operating rooms during daytime hours.

• Deliver care to an adult patient population with a variety of cardiac and thoracic conditions.

• Adult Cardiac Surgery

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

• Heart Valve Repair/Replacement

• General Thoracic Surgery

• Tube Thoracostomy

• Pericardial Window

• Thoracotomy procedures (lung biopsy, lung resection, pneumonectomy)

• Thoracotomy decortication

• Mediastinal surgery

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery (required)

• Active Michigan medical license (required; IMLC or Compact not accepted)

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)

• Clean malpractice and license history (highly preferred)

• NPDB self-query report dated within the last 30 days required at presentation
