Locum Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon Opportunities in MI!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide locum coverage in a hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery team. The position includes a mix of weekday rounding and call coverage, along with dedicated weekend night call responsibilities. This opportunity is based at a Level I trauma center and focuses on adult cardiac and thoracic surgical care.

Dates & Schedule

Start Date: ASAP
Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days

Coverage Structure:

• 1 week per month (Monday–Friday): On-site patient rounding and call coverage

• 1 weekend per month: Night call starting Friday evening through Monday morning (24-hour beeper call)

• Call ratio: Open to options

Average Volume: Approximately 1 surgical case per weekend

• Hospital-based practice

• 2 dedicated Cardiovascular Surgery ORs (daytime)

• EMR: Epic

• Adult patient population

Required Procedures & Case Types:

• Adult Cardiac Surgery

• General Thoracic Surgery

• CABG

• Heart valve repair and replacement

• Tube thoracostomy

• Pericardial window

• Thoracotomy (lung biopsy, lung resection, pneumonectomy)

• Thoracotomy decortication

• Mediastinal surgery

The physician will provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care, manage inpatient rounding, and respond to call coverage needs, primarily focused on adult cardiac and thoracic cases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery (required)

• Active Michigan medical license (required at time of name clear; IMLC/Compact not accepted)

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)

• NPDB self-query (within 30 days of presentation)

• Clean malpractice and license history (highly preferred)
