Practice Setting

• Inpatient setting.
• Daily census of approximately 7 patients.
• Average 3 admissions per shift.
• CVU team assists with patient questions during rounds.

Schedule

• Shift-Based coverage for 1-2 weekends per month.
• No long-term commitment required for this assignment.
• Pager call with a 30-minute response time for emergent cases.

Procedures and Cases

• Primarily managing CABG cases post-surgery.
• Performing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (must have case log).
• Handling Cardiothoracic Surgery referrals from Cardiology.
• AM rounding and as needed for post-surgical patients if changes in condition.

Requirements

• Board Certification in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery required.
• Active Illinois State Medical License.
• Must present a 24-month Case Log at the start of credentialing.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and DEA.

Credentialing Requirements

• Credentialing timeframe is 120 days.
• Temporary privileges are available for faster starts.
• Must have a clean background for consideration.
