We are recruiting a full-time retina specialist to join our esteemed team of 9 vitreoretinal surgeons in South Carolina’s capital city because of growth and anticipated partner retirement. We have a strong academic affiliation and seven office locations. This opportunity offers a unique chance for a Board-Certified / Board-Eligible, fellowship-trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon to step into a thriving practice. Additionally, we provide a conducive work-life balance, offering a 4.5-day workweek with every 4th Friday off and one day per week dedicated to surgical procedures and ancillary support.

Job Responsibilities

The ophthalmology group offers a conducive work-life balance with a 4.5-day workweek, transitioning to 4 days a week once monthly, and one day dedicated to surgical procedures. With a patient load averaging 50-60 individuals daily, compensation of $1 million is supported by a payor mix comprising 64% Medicare, 30% Commercial, and 5% Medicaid, contributing to a gross revenue of $70 million. Fellows handle first call, with attending call responsibilities distributed at 1:6. Comprehensive ancillary support includes assigned scribes and two injection assistants per physician.

Working Hours

This position entails a four and a half workweek with 1 Friday off per month, with three and a half days dedicated to clinic duties (one day in Florence, SC) and one day allocated for surgery.

Skills

Our practice provides medical and surgical care for disorders involving the retina, macula and vitreous, including even rare conditions, like retinal vein occlusion and geographic atrophy. We also have the only doctor in the area who treats retinopathy of prematurity.
