ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to provide 24-hour trauma call coverage at an ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center. The provider will support hand and general plastic surgery trauma needs due to limited local hand coverage, averaging approximately 19 days of coverage per month. This role focuses primarily on trauma-related hand procedures with minimal surgical volume but high ER exposure.

Dates / Schedule

• Coverage Period: ASAP – December 2026

• Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (24-hour call)

• Coverage Need: Approximately 19 days per month

• Call Ratio: Negotiable

Job Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

• 24-hour trauma call

• ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center

• Annual ER Volume: 90,000

Patient Population:

• Ages 15+ (adolescent through geriatric)

Current Coverage Team:

• 1 Hand Plastic Surgeon

• 1 Community Plastic Surgeon

• 2 Hospital-Employed Orthopedic Hand Surgeons

Case Volume:

• Average: 1 surgical case per month

• Summer months: Approximately 3 per month

Required Procedures:

• Hand-related procedures

• Traumatic hand reconstruction

• Facial laceration repair

• Scar revisions

• Skin grafts

• Flap procedures

• Minor burn care

Clinic Responsibilities:

• In-person response when procedures are required

• Trauma Clinic support: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (SPB Suite 600)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified in Plastic Surgery (must be boarded within 5 years of training; no Board Eligible accepted) – Required

• Active Michigan Medical License (Full License Only) – Required (No IMLC or “willing to obtain”)

• Self-Query NPDB Report (pulled within 30 days of presentation) – Required

• BLS and ACLS Certification – Highly Preferred

• Experience in trauma-related hand and general plastic surgery procedures

• Ability to provide 24-hour trauma call coverage consistently
