Full-Time Plastic Surgeon – MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a full-time Plastic Surgeon to support a growing surgical program. This role includes clinic, OR, and call responsibilities with opportunities for trauma coverage, ER consults, and reconstructive collaboration. Flexible block scheduling options are available, with call-only coverage needed initially and clinic/OR responsibilities to be reviewed as volume grows.

Schedule

• Status: Full-time

• Patient Contact Hours: 36 hours/week

• Clinic Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday

• OR Days: 2–4 days per week

• Call: Soft tissue call rotation in addition to clinic call/EMTALA

• Scheduling Options:

  • 7 days on / 7 days off or

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

• Start: ASAP (call coverage initially)

Practice Details

• Team Structure: 1 physician, 1 APP

• APP Supervision: Not required

• Nursing Support: 1:1

• Ancillary Support: 0.5 per provider

• Clinic Volume: 16+ patients per full clinic day

• Appointment Length: 15–30 minutes

• Patient Population: Surgical and cosmetic patients of all ages

• EMR: Epic

• Teaching Opportunities: Yes

Key Responsibilities

• Trauma call coverage

Submission Requirements

• Board Certified – Required

• Active Iowa license or IMLC (LOQ required at name clear) – Required

• Demonstrated experience in plastic surgery – Required

• Clean malpractice history and background – Required

• Availability for 7 on/7 off or 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule – Required
