Locum tenens opportunity

Start date: ASAP – ongoing need

Seeking a board certified or board eligible neurosurgeon
-
Inpatient and acute neurosurgery practice
-
Coverage: one full week per month (Monday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM)
Schedule
-
Monthly coverage: One full week per month
-
Weekday schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
-
Weeknight call: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM (24-hour coverage)
-
Total call coverage: 7 call days per month (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
-
Orientation: Typically one weekday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM before the first assignment
Clinical Details
-
Practice setting: Inpatient and acute neurosurgery service
-
Patient population:
-
Majority adult and geriatric
-
Small percentage of adolescent and pediatric patients (primarily trauma cases transferred out when needed)
-

Average new consults: Approximately 6–7 per day
-
Service list: Typically 15–40 patients, average around 25
-
Additional surgical cases from call: Approximately 4–8 per week
Procedures
-
General neurosurgery procedures including:
-
Management of cranial and spinal trauma
-
Treatment of intracranial hemorrhage
-
Placement of external ventricular drains
-
Management of hydrocephalus
-
Craniotomy for evacuation of hematomas or tumors
-
Spinal procedures including decompressions and instrumentation as indicated

Clinical Support and Technology
-
Hospital size: 509 beds
-
Trauma designation: Level I Trauma Center
-
APP support:
-
4 daytime APPs (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
-
Night-time APP coverage (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Clinic support: RN and Medical Assistant

EMR: Epic
Requirements

Board certified or board eligible in Neurosurgery

Active Illinois license required
