A well-established regional medical center in Rockingham, Virginia is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon for locum coverage from June 1 – December 31, 2026.
This opportunity offers structured 24-hour call blocks within a hospital-supported environment as they continue building and expanding their neurosurgical service line. Strong administrative backing and full office support staff are in place.
Ideal for a neurosurgeon seeking consistent call-based coverage with manageable case volume while contributing to program growth.
Schedule
- 0700 Monday – 0700 Monday (24-hour call coverage)
• Ongoing coverage blocks available
Case Volume & Expectations
- Average daily caseload: ~2 cases
• Weekend callbacks: ~2
• Weekend admissions: 2–3
• Weeknight callbacks: ~5 calls/day
• Weeknight admissions: 2–3 per week
Required Skills
- General spine procedures
• Minor cranial work
Preferred:
• Broader general spine experience
Practice Environment
- EPIC EMR (preferred proficiency)
• Full office support staff
• Building a new neurosurgery program
• Local candidates given first consideration
Requirements
- Active Virginia license
• Virginia DEA (or intent to obtain)
• Board Certified (ABNS)
• Full malpractice disclosure required
