A Northern Michigan hospital is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon for locum tenens coverage. This is a hospital-based role requiring 24-hour call, inpatient rounding, admissions, and emergent neurosurgical care. The physician must perform both spinal and cranial procedures.
Assignment Details:
Coverage Type: 24-hour call (8:00 AM – 8:00 AM)
Setting: Hospital-based
Patient Volume: Approximately 5–10 inpatients per day
Responsibilities:
Emergent neurosurgical consults and procedures
Emergent surgeries
Daily inpatient rounding
Admissions and call coverage
Support Staff:
Neurosurgeon
Ortho-spine surgeon
Neurosurgery APPs in clinic
Facilities: Imaging, laboratory, procedure rooms, and OR all onsite
EMR: Cerner
Available Coverage Dates:
January 26, 2026 – February 2, 2026
February 26, 2026 – March 2, 2026
April 17, 2026 – April 27, 2026
Requirements:
Board Certified in Neurosurgery
Fellowship trained with minimum 2–3 years post-training experience
Must perform both spinal and cranial neurosurgery
Active Michigan medical license or IMLC
ACLS certification
